Visita de Estudo a Barcelona

Para os interessados em genoma existem ainda vagas para visitar o CRG em Barcelona.

«El CRG es un instituto internacional de investigación biomédica de excelencia, la misión del cual es descubrir y hacer avanzar el conocimiento en beneficio de la sociedad, la salud pública y la prosperidad económica. El CRG cree que la medicina del futuro depende de la ciencia innovadora actual. Esto requiere un equipo científico interdisciplinar centrado en la comprensión de la complejidad de la vida, desde el genoma a la célula, hasta un organismo completo y su interacción con el entorno, que ofrece una visión integradora de las enfermedades genéticas».

Além do CRG também se visita o Institute of Photonic Research (ICFO) e o Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).

9:00 – 10:30 – Short presentations of two EU-funded projects:
● 4DCellFate, by Luciano Di Croce and Ben Lehner
● SysteMTb, by Luis Serrano
10:45 – 11:45 – Visit of the Advanced Light Microscopy Unit (ALMU), by Timmo Zimmerman
12:00 – 13:00 – Visit of the Proteomics Unit, by Eduard Sabido
13:00 – 13:45 – Lunch
13:45 – 15:30 – Visit of two laboratories:
● Retinal Regeneration porject, by Maria Pia Cosma
● Swarm Organ project, by James Sharpe
15:45 – 17:30 – “Café scientifique” with scientists from the various research institutions involved

18h30: guided tour of Barcelona with Marta from Forever Barcelona
The tour will start in front of the Banys Oriental Hotel and will end at the restaurant Lonja de Tapas
20h30: Dinner in a tapas restaurant: Lonja de Tapas – Pla de Palau

11.30 – 12:00 – Visit of the ICFO facilities (Biology lab, Clean room, Prototypes of ICFO patented research, SLN Facility)
12.00 – 13.00 – Informal lunch with Group Leaders and select ICFOnians.

14h00 – 17h45: visit of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC)
– Presentation on high-performance computing and e-Sciences by Mateo Valero, Director of BSC
– Presentation on bioinformatics by Modesto Orozco, Director of the Life Science department at BSC
– Visit of the MareNostrum infrastructures
– Presentation and visit of projects on electronic and atomic protein modelling ( by Victor Guallart), computational genomics (Pancancer project), and on heart simulation (Alya Red project)
